The practitioner administers respiratory care to acutely ill patients through assessment, planning, intervention, and treatment across various adult care areas including med/surg, emergency, and critical care units. Responsibilities also include monitoring patient condition, educating patients and families, responding to emergencies, and participating in multidisciplinary rounds.
Candidates must be graduates of an Accredited Respiratory Therapy Program and hold either a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential, along with an active or pending Illinois Respiratory Care License and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Preferred qualifications include NRP, PALS, and ACLS certifications.
