The Respiratory Therapist will set up and operate various respiratory care equipment for the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory diseases or illnesses, including the delivery of necessary medications. Responsibilities also include demonstrating competence in Oxygen Therapy, Arterial Blood Gas Sampling, ventilator functions, and patient/family education.
Candidates must possess a current Pennsylvania License in Respiratory Therapy and be registered by the NBRC. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with graduation from an AMA-approved respiratory therapy program and current AHA BLS certification.
Respiratory Services Employment Type: Per Diem Shift: Rotating 12hr shifts Location: Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital Position Purpose Under supervision of the department manager and/upon request of the physician order sets up and operates various types of respiratory care equipment to be utilized in the Diagnosis and treatment of respiratory disease or illness. Also delivery of medications needed to assist in control of Respiratory ailments. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will: Demonstrates competence in providing Oxygen Therapy Demonstrates competence in Arterial Blood Gas Sampling Recognizes changes in patient condition and responds appropriately (notifies nurse/physician, initiates CPR) Sets up and maintains ventilator functions Demonstrates appropriate use of pulse oximetry device Participates in the education process of patients and families
