The technician works under pharmacist supervision to provide pharmaceutical care services by prioritizing and processing medication orders, preparing medications for dispensing, and distributing drugs to patient care locations. Responsibilities include safely and accurately handling, preparing, distributing, charging, crediting, and disposing of medication.
A minimum requirement is a high school diploma or equivalent, along with State Board of Pharmacy registration in the state of work. Preferred qualifications include previous hospital experience and completion of a technician training program/academy.
Works under the direct supervision of the pharmacist in providing pharmaceutical care services, while considering patient specific factors, through the prioritization and processing of medication orders, the preparing of medications for dispensing, distribution and stocking of patient care locations for subsequent drug administration. Performs other duties as assigned.
