The Staff Occupational Therapist provides quality occupational therapy services, including evaluation, intervention, education, program planning, and discharge planning, under general and clinical supervision. Essential functions involve developing and implementing measurable goals and treatment plans using appropriate techniques based on the latest standards of practice.
Candidates must possess a B.S. or entry-level M.S. degree in occupational therapy and hold a valid license to practice occupational therapy in the State of Tennessee. Basic computer skills and the ability to write, speak, and understand English are also required.
Summary: Provides quality occupational therapy services to most diagnoses, including evaluation, intervention and education, program planning and implementation, discharge planning, related documentation and communication. Under the general supervision of the occupational therapy supervisor, or program manager, and the clinical supervision of a mentor, the Staff Occupational Therapist treats a variety of diagnoses per department standards, as assigned by the mentor. Employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the hospital. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Use appropriate tests and measurements for the patient’s age and problems that lead to an accurate understanding of the problems. Develop objective and measurable goals that are supported by the evaluation. Develop a treatment plan that is supported by the goals. Reevaluate and redefine goals and treatment plan in accordance with the patient’s needs and per the department policy and procedures. Plan, organize and adjust the daily schedule to optimally use available time, space and equipment in order to provide the best possible treatment. Utilize the appropriate treatment techniques, based on the latest information available and standards of practice, for selected diagnosis and meet the plan of treatment. Explain the treatment rationale and how modalities work. Terminate treatment at the appropriate time per department standards. Coordinate treatment plan and visits with other team members. Ensure the proper working order of departmental equipment and have a sufficient level of supplies and materials for each treatment session. Ensure equipment and supplies, used in the treatment, are maintained in a clean and orderly fashion. Document in patients’ records accurately, concisely, legibly and in a timely manner to illustrate both progress and/or lack of progress per department standards. Charge appropriately for treatment/services provided per department policies and procedures. Performs related responsibilities as required or directed. Expectation of Productivity noted in each different cost center/clinic Possible related activities as assigned to include educational activities; ie teaching classes for public or peers; participation in health or community fairs; and/or marketing services to your particular market share.
