The role involves administering all respiratory care modalities, including invasive and non-invasive ventilation, medication administration, and airway management for patients with cardiopulmonary compromise. Responsibilities also include comprehensive patient assessments, interpreting data for evidence-based recommendations, and managing clinical documentation and billing.
Candidates must possess a minimum of an Associate's degree and hold a valid DC Respiratory License along with the Registered Respiratory Therapist (R.R.T.) credential. Required experience includes working specifically within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) setting and holding current BLS CPR certification.
Responsible for the administration of all respiratory care modalities, that include the following: - Invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation - Inhaled medication administration - Administration of medical gases - Humidity therapy - Airway management - Bronchial hygiene/airway clearance - Chest tube management - Blood gas management - Intra-hospital transport Responsible for rendering comprehensive assessments to patients with cardiopulmonary compromise including clinical pathways and interpreting patient data to make evidence-based recommendations for continued care. Responsible for clinical patient electronic health record management including clinical documentation, billing, and hand-off.
