Position Summary
Provides quality patient care when performing diagnostic sonographic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention. Works closely with Radiologist to perform diagnostic sonographic exams.

Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient’s clinical history and ensures accurate documentation.
Positions patient, equipment, and associated devices. Manipulates technical factors to achieve high-quality images for interpretation.
Assesses diagnostic imagesfor technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that allrelative anatomy is demonstrated.
Comprehends and complies with Quality Controlstandards and participatesin all Quality Control tasks.
Administers medical aid asrequired for any emergency situation.
Applies appropriate standard precautions and use of personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases.
Assists in supervising student sonographers.
Utilizes all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
Ensuresthe safety of all customers.
Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies, procedures, department guidelines, and education requirements.
Qualifications
Education/Training. Graduate of an accredited school of sonography and meets American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) eligibility guidelines.
Licensure/Certification
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer(RDMS)registered through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certificate.
Experience Knowledge of routine ultrasound procedures which may include invasive procedures such as biopsies, amniocentesis, thoracentesis, breast cyst aspiration, and breast localization, and knowledge of Doppler, 3D/4D, and pediatric sonography.
