The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for providing pharmacy services to the hospital and clinics, including reviewing medication orders and ensuring patient safety. They may also perform the essential duties of the Director of Pharmacy in their absence.
Candidates must be graduates of an accredited Pharmacy School and hold a current Minnesota Board of Pharmacy License. Preferred qualifications include 5+ years of hospital pharmacy experience and familiarity with EMR and automated dispensing systems.
Pharmacist - (On Call) Position Status: On-Call (PRN shifts: Days - Evenings - Weekends - Holidays)Department: Riverview PharmacyWage Range: $65.79 - $92.12 hourly DOE/(non-benefitted) RiverView Healthcare Pharmacy is responsible for providing pharmacy services to the hospital, ancillary clinics, and retail pharmacy operations. Staff Pharmacist role encompasses inpatient pharmacy, outpatient pharmacy, and retail pharmacy duties. The Staff Pharmacist is under the supervision of the Director of Pharmacy and is given significant autonomy in fulfilling job responsibilities. In the absence of the Director of Pharmacy, the Staff Pharmacist may be required to perform the essential duties of the Director of Pharmacy. Accurately reviews and interprets medication orders; prepares accurate and complete patient/customer profiles; reviews profiles for correct drug, dosage and route of administration; ensures that no drug-drug interaction exists; ensures that patient/customer is not allergic to any medication prescribed. Efficiently performs other professional pharmacy duties including the safe procurement, preparation, labeling, distribution and control of all drugs. Notifies appropriate medical/nursing staff whenever appropriate drug therapy is questionable. Actively supports and participates in pharmacy activities recommended by the TJC or other regulatory agencies.
Minimum(s): Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy School. Must hold a current Minnesota Board of Pharmacy License. Current American Heart BLS and ACLS certifications are required. If not currently certified training will be provided and certifications must be obtained within 6 months from date of hire. Preferred(s): 5+ years of Hospital Pharmacy experience. Experience with EMR and automated dispensing systems (e.g., Epic, Pyxis, Omnicell) Competencies: Demonstrated flexibility and reliability supporting holiday and high‑need coverage Ability to work independently during nights or low‑staffed shifts while maintaining patient safety standards Must work well under pressure and be sensitive to concerns and confidentiality of the patient Interdisciplinary collaboration and communication Patient-centered care and education Must understand the importance of positive communication with patients/customers, medical staff, general public, other departments and co-workers.
