The Nurse Practitioner will provide clinical and administrative activities at the Mack Truck/Volvo on-site clinic, including triaging and treating work-related and non-work-related injuries and illnesses. They will also coordinate health education seminars and manage workers' compensation claims.
Candidates must have completed an approved Nurse Practitioner program and be registered/licensed by the State of Pennsylvania. A minimum of 2 years of related experience in adult medicine is required, with a preference for experience in Occupational Medicine.
We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner. This position provides clinical and administrative activities at the Mack Truck/Volvo on-site clinic. The position reports directly to the Regional Coordinator for the Mack Truck/JHU partnership. The position also works closely with the Medical Director and Division Administrator of the Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine.
Provide on-site services forty (40) hours per week at the Mack Truck/Volvo facility in Macungie, PA. Triage and treat, as appropriate, work-related and non-work-related injuries and illnesses. Dispense over-the-counter and prescription medications in accordance with pre-established standing orders to employees with work-related and non-work-related injuries/illnesses Provide on-site specimen/lab collection for employees presenting lab orders from their PCP. Perform urine drug screening and breath alcohol testing in accordance with Mack Truck/Volvo protocol. Provide support and case management for both work-related and non-work-related conditions for the purposes of reducing illness and absenteeism. Coordinate second opinions for employees absent due to workers’ compensation or disability, as necessary in adherence with Mack Truck/Volvo protocols. Assist, coordinate and plan monthly health education seminars and general wellness events. Provide onsite patient education regarding illnesses/injuries, medication, treatments, stretching etc. Provide referrals for employees who need the attention of a primary care physician or specialist in adherence with company protocols. Work collaboratively with patients and their PCP/Specialist to facilitate early diagnosis and management of acute and chronic health problems. Perform on-site physical assessments (DOT, return to work, work-related injuries) as required by Mack Trucks/Volvo.
Administrative services provided to include Maintain and revise, as needed, standardized procedures, protocols and standing orders. Maintain adequate clinical supplies. Maintain Pennsylvania CLIA, required for lab testing provided on-site. Maintain patient medical records.
Special knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Analytical ability is necessary to evaluate and determine the health status of a patient and implement proper care as indicated including referral to specialty departments Interpersonal skills necessary to interview, teach, counsel patients and interact with clients/employees, coworkers, and outside vendors A comprehensive understanding of outpatient adult medicine, patient care procedures, medical protocols, and testing procedures is necessary.
Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner. Registered/licensed by the State of Pennsylvania Board of Physicians/Board of Nursing National Board Certification Minimum 2 years related experience (adult medicine).
Experience in Occupational Medicine, Workers’ Compensation, DOT exams. Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR certification required. Must maintain current licensure and certification during duration of employment.
