The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will provide clinical support to patients in the infusion center and work closely with the multidisciplinary geriatric oncology team. Responsibilities include onsite management of patients, supporting referring offices, and direct patient care including evaluation and management of acute and chronic illnesses.
Candidates must have a Master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner or completion of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program, along with active New York State licensure and national certification. Strong communication skills, clinical competence, and a desire to learn are essential.
NP/PA Full Time position available, daytime hours, primarily Monday through Friday, 8-hour shifts, rotating weekend and holiday shifts Exciting opportunity for Advanced Practice Provider to join the Wilmot Cancer Institute’s Infusion center and the nationally recognized geriatric oncology clinical team based at Highland Hospital. This person will have a dual role providing clinical support to the patients in the infusion center and working closely with the multidisciplinary geriatric oncology team at Highland. Candidate must be willing and able to work across different sites within the region to support our infusion centers. Responsibilities include: onsite management of patients in the infusion center, supporting referring offices to optimize order entering and navigating the referral process, and direct patient care including evaluation and management of acute illness and chronic symptom management, follow-up, coordination of services, and family education. Need for excellent communication both in person and reaching out to offsite offices is necessary. Individuals must be flexible with the growing needs of the practice and dependable. NPs and PAs will demonstrate clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills with ability in exercising independent judgment and initiative, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn. Nurse Practitioner Require a Master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner, an active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing, an active New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing and current national certification as an Nurse Practitioner. Physician Assistant Required completion of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program, an active New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing and current national certification as a Physician Assistant by NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) NPs and PAs will demonstrate clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn. The APP will participate in the education of learners (students and new employees), using clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing and skill training.
