The Advanced Certified Surgical Technologist provides specialized support for plastic and reconstructive procedures by maintaining sterile fields and managing microsurgical equipment. They also handle administrative tasks such as patient scheduling, medical supply inventory management, and clinical documentation.
Candidates must have graduated from an accredited Surgical Technology program and hold a current Surgical Technology certification. A current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and strong knowledge of sterile technique and infection control are also required.
Description JOB SUMMARY The Advanced Certified Surgical Technologist provides specialized surgical support for plastic and reconstructive procedures by preparing and maintaining sterile fields, managing delicate instruments and microsurgical equipment, and anticipating surgeon needs during complex cases. This role assists with grafting, flap procedures, tissue handling, and aesthetic techniques while ensuring precise instrumentation and optimal operative flow. The ACST serves as a clinical resource to the surgical team, supports specialty supply and equipment management, and may assist with staff training. This position promotes optimal surgical outcomes through strict adherence to sterile technique, patient safety standards, and regulatory requirements
Assist patients by providing information, services, and support as needed. Maintain medical supply inventory and ensure equipment is properly serviced and functioning. Verify patient information, including medical history and reason for visit, through direct interview. Prepare patients for examinations by collecting vital signs and performing preliminary tests, relay relevant history to the provider. Support physicians during office procedures to improve efficiency and workflow. Protect patient confidentiality by securing medical records and ensuring accurate coding and documentation. Communicate physician instructions and surgery-related information to patients. Schedule surgeries by coordinating with surgical centers, confirming patient availability, and preparing all required documentation. Maintain a safe and compliant clinical environment by following established procedures and regulations. Manage supply inventory, place orders, and verify deliveries as needed. Keep equipment operating by following instructions, troubleshooting minor issues, and arranging repairs. Participate in continuing education and stay current with professional practices. Adhere to professional standards, clinic policies, and regulatory requirements. Support the practice by contributing to new initiatives and identifying opportunities to enhance service quality. Perform clinical duties within scope—including tasks designated for CMA, RMA, CST, LPN, or RN roles as applicable—as well as other clinical functions delegated and supervised by the physician.
