The surgical assistant works under the direction of an attending surgeon, assisting in pre-operative, operative, and post-operative procedures. Responsibilities include patient positioning, prepping, draping, and providing assistance during surgeries.
Candidates must be graduates of an approved technical, professional, or vocational program and hold Basic Life Support certification. Professional certification must be obtained within 12 months of employment, along with extensive knowledge of surgical procedures and anatomy.
The surgical assistant works under the direction of an attending surgeon and performs duties in relation to pre-operative, operative and post-operative procedures as assigned by that attending surgeon.
Graduate of an approved technical, professional, or vocational program Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS), Professional certification (CRNFA, CSTFA, SA-C, CSFA, PA-C, or CSA) must be obtained within 12 months from date of employment Surgical procedures, extensive knowledge of A&P, excellent hand-eye coordination
