The Medical Assistant provides direct clinical support to patients in an ambulatory setting, including rooming patients, obtaining vitals, and performing procedures. They are responsible for maintaining efficient patient flow, documenting care accurately, and assisting providers with clinical tasks.
Candidates must have at least 6 months of experience and completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program. A valid certification (CMA, CCMA, RMA, NCMA, or NRCMA) and BLS CPR certification are required.
The Medical Assistant provides direct support in the examination and treatment of patients in an ambulatory clinical setting under the supervision of a Physician, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner. This role is essential to ensuring efficient patient flow, high-quality clinical care, and excellent patient experiences. Responsibilities include patient preparation, clinical support, documentation, specimen handling, and coordination of care. Room patients; obtain vital signs; perform medication reconciliation Prepare and assist patients during examinations and procedures, including chaperoning Administer vaccines; perform venipuncture; collect and process specimens Assist providers with procedures and in-basket patient messages and care requests Review charts and obtain labs, imaging, and test results prior to visits Accurately document care in the medical record Maintain clean, stocked, and safe exam and procedure rooms Ensure efficient patient flow and communicate clinical changes to providers Support quality improvement initiatives and assist with staff orientation as needed
At least 6 months of CMA experience is required. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program Certification (CMA, CCMA, RMA, NCMA or NRCMA) from an approved agency is required. Valid BLS CPR certification required upon hire; and recertification required every two years.
