The Certified Surgical Technician assists a Registered Nurse during surgical operations by preparing the operating room, maintaining sterility, passing instruments, and assisting with room turnover. Key duties include accurately tracking surgical items and ensuring compliance with safety and infection control protocols.
Candidates must successfully complete a CAAHEP-accredited surgical technology program and possess the Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Preferred candidates will have 12 to 18 months of acute care operating room experience and demonstrate strong attention to detail and effective teamwork skills.
Education High school diploma or equivalent required Successful completion of a program in surgical technology accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) required Licenses/Certifications Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required within time frame required by facility policy Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required De-escalation training required within time frame required by facility policy Experience 12 to 18 months of acute care operating room experience preferred
