The Medical Social Worker identifies socioeconomic and emotional factors that impede a patient's medical treatment or recovery. They provide support by assessing the physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs of the patient population served.
Candidates must hold a Master’s Degree in Social Work and a current state license to practice. A valid driver’s license, CPR certification, and proficiency in electronic documentation are also required.
The Medical Social Worker is responsible for identifying socioeconomic and emotional factors that exist which are, or can be, an impediment to the effective treatment of the patient’s medical condition or rate of recovery. This individual demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical, emotional and psycho-social needs of the patient population served.
