The Nurse Extern assists the Registered Nurse Preceptor in providing direct patient care, including medication administration and activities of daily living. They also facilitate communication within the healthcare team and maintain a safe, sanitary environment for patients.
Candidates must be currently enrolled in an accredited Registered Nurse program and entering their final year of study. Applicants are required to hold current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and obtain necessary state clearances.
Under the direction of the Registered Nurse Preceptor, the Nurse Extern’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, utilization of the nursing process in the provision of care, communicating with all members of the health care team to assure patient goals are being met and coordinated, providing excellent customer service while supporting the patients and families physical and emotional heath.
