The Sterile Processing Tech is responsible for cleaning, decontaminating, and sterilizing surgical instruments to ensure they are in good working condition. They also maintain sterile processing equipment, manage supply inventory, and assist with operating room preparation between procedures.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, along with Sterile Processing and BLS certifications. One to two years of experience as an Instrument Technician in multiple specialties is required.
Position requires weekdays only -- no holidays, weekends, or call. Some later evenings required.
The Instrument Technician is responsible for all aspects of instrument care as well as the maintenance of the sterile processing area and proper functioning of sterile processing equipment. The staffing of the Center is based on a teamwork concept. Employees may be cross trained in other clinical areas and may be expected to perform duties other than their normal ones as staffing and patient needs change.
