The audiologist will perform diagnostic evaluations of auditory and vestibular systems for diverse patient populations and provide recommendations for rehabilitation. They are also responsible for maintaining medical records, managing equipment, and educating patients on therapeutic plans.
Candidates must hold a Master's or Doctorate degree in Audiology and possess a valid California Audiologist License. Additionally, Basic Life Support certification and a National Provider Identifier are required at the time of hire.
Provide diagnostic evaluations of the auditory and vestibular systems and aid in assessing the neurological status of adults and children. Provide direction, counseling, and recommendations regarding the rehabilitation of hearing impaired patients. Determine whether severely hearing impaired patients are candidates for cochlear implant surgery. Upholds Kaiser Permanentes Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities and applicable state, federal and local laws.
Selects, performs, and interprets diagnostic test data for: Pediatric and geriatric populations, vestibular function, and facial nerve integrity. Counsels patients and informs them of future therapeutic plans. Provides mobile diagnostic services for inpatients, ICU, NICU, and operative patients. Performs evaluations, assessments, and referrals for hearing aids. Keeps accurate and comprehensive records in patients medical chart and department-based files. Performs daily equipment biological calibrations, maintains equipment, and initiates requests for repair. Instructs monthly patient education class. Assists families with placement into appropriate education setting for hearing-impaired children. Serves as a resource for hearing and vestibular assessment (and rehabilitation) to physicians, paraprofessionals, and patients regarding hearing health diagnostics and care. Maintains professional competency.
