The Scrub LPN works as part of a surgical team to meet patient needs in the perioperative setting under the supervision of an RN or physician. Responsibilities include supervising and mentoring unlicensed personnel and responding to emergent surgical cases on-call.
Candidates must be a graduate of an approved school of practical nursing and meet state regulatory requirements to practice. Specific documentation regarding intravenous therapy education is required based on graduation date and location.
(4) 10-hour shifts from 7:00am - 5:30pm or (5) 8-hour shifts from 7:00am - 3:30pm.

The Scrub Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, licensed physician, or dentist, participates as a member of the surgical/procedural team to meet the surgical/procedural needs of the patient in the Perioperative setting. On-Call Responsibilities: Responds in the required time frame for emergent surgical/procedural cases and is prepared and ready within the required time frame. Responsible for the supervising, teaching, mentoring, and delegating to unlicensed personnel based on their training and education activities relating to nursing care. Performs other duties as assigned. Education, Credentials, Licenses: Graduate from approved school of practical nursing Kentucky graduates prior to 1994 must provide documentation of a continuing education course in intravenous therapy. Out of state graduates must submit documentation of their schools' core curriculum that defines the course content for intravenous therapy or documentation of continuing education credit post basic education program. Exception to IV therapy education requirement is an LPN in Indiana or a Kentucky LPN assigned to Home Care, Private Duty, Behavioral Health, and OR, LPN SA, or LPN ST. (LPNSR or LPNST working Maternal Child Health must meet IV therapy education requirements.) Specialized Knowledge: Knowledge of nursing care standards and procedures. Demonstrates ability to independently perform safe nursing skills and techniques. Kind and Length of Experience: Meets state and regulatory requirements to legally apply for position.
