The Laboratory Technician Assistant is responsible for receiving and distributing laboratory specimens and performing routine urinalysis. They also conduct quality control, maintain documentation, and assist in pre-analytical and post-analytical laboratory processes.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and possess strong communication and computer skills. Previous experience in a laboratory setting and knowledge of medical terminology are preferred.

Position Overview: Under the supervision of the Specimen Control Coordinator, Section Supervisor, or Director, the Technician Assistant receives and distributes those specimens that are brought directly to the Specimen Control area or those that arrive via pneumatic tube. He/She performs routine urinalysis (with the exception of microscopy); prepares specimens for dispatch to reference laboratories; and performs Quality Control and preventive maintenance procedures designated for Specimen Control, with documentation of same; and assists in pre-analytical and post-analytical Laboratory processes.
