Job Description

Position Overview: The Endoscopy Technician assists the physician on all procedures and serves as a resource to the use and maintenance of equipment. He/She performs analysis of technical problems and changing needs and responds appropriately to aid in support and care of endoscopy patients. The Endoscopy Technician interacts effectively and appropriately on a daily basis with all operating room staff. Expectation is for all performed duties to be in accordance with Singing River Health System procedures and policies, accreditation organization, and governing guidance and publications for health care employees. License

Certifications: Must complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer.

Experience

One year of experience in medical environment preferred.
Reports to: Patient Care Manager, Director of Surgical Services, and/or Executive Director of Surgical Operations.

Demands:
Work is moderately active: involves sitting with frequent requirements to move about the office, move about the facility, and to travel to another facility within the SRHS service area. Work involves exerting a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Employee is responsible for safely moving, lifting and handling all supplies, equipment and patients, with assistance. Expected to use safe lifting practices in all areas of job performance and employees are responsible to request help whenever needed, regardless of the weight, using available assistance, i.e. lifting devices or additional staff. Work involves using many physical motions in performing daily work activities; subject to exposure of body fluids, sputum and tissues, which may carry the hazard of infectious disease.
