The Graduate Respiratory Therapist administers respiratory care modalities and performs routine care under guidance for patients and families. They are responsible for systematic patient assessment, documentation, and contributing to the plan of care while maintaining a safe environment.
Candidates must hold a technical diploma in Respiratory Care and possess active Pennsylvania licensure and BLS certification upon hire. Proficiency in basic computer skills, electronic health records, and clinical information systems is required.
Demonstrates an awareness of research and its value to clinical practice. Identifies and reads respiratory care articles applicable to practice area. Aware of any research protocol that assigned patients are enrolled in. Verbalizes awareness that department standards and procedures are evidence based. Demonstrates knowledge of quality improvement activities. Demonstrates knowledge of the research process. Participates in data collection opportunities for research and/or quality improvement activities. Can perform a basic literature search on selected topic.
