The Cardiovascular Radiologic Technologist operates specialized imaging equipment to assist cardiologists during diagnostic and therapeutic catheterization procedures. They are responsible for maintaining patient safety, performing quantitative analysis of coronary anatomy, and mentoring new staff.
Candidates must be registered as a Radiologic Technologist (RT) by the ARRT and hold a valid state license. CPR certification is required, and while experience is preferred, new graduates are encouraged to apply.
Operates and maintains all radiographic, digital, processing and viewing equipment associated with the production of high-quality images and quantitative analysis of coronary/peripheral anatomy. Applies principles of radiation safety and protection. Acts as first assistant during diagnostic and therapeutic catheterization procedures to assure completeness of case. Maintains a thorough knowledge in the use of all diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and products for procedures to ensure its’ accuracy and safety. Reviews the pre-procedural patient assessment to obtain adequate information, communicate pertinent data to MD and ensure appropriate imaging and patient safety. Assist in the education process of new employees, mentors students and other healthcare professionals observing in the cath lab. Assist in the development of performance improvement activities in the cath lab, to include ideas, data collection, data analysis and implementing change to ensure best practice in the cath lab. Performs other duties as assigned. Education, Credentials, Licenses: Must be RT, licensed in the state where work is being performed and registered as a RT by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Specialized Knowledge: CPR certification Kind and Length of Experience: Greater than 1 year experience preferred as a RT and/or patient care experience.
