The Surgery Assistant supports surgeons and technicians by preparing surgical equipment, maintaining operating rooms, and assisting with patient procedures. They are also responsible for animal restraint, monitoring anesthetized patients, and managing medical records.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of animal experience. Experience in a surgical setting and knowledge of medical record systems like EasyVet are preferred.
The Surgery Assistant supports the Surgeons and Technicians by preparing the surgery service for animals receiving surgery, proper restraint of animals for treatments, assisting in safe transportation of anesthetized patients, supporting the Surgeon with surgical procedures, and preparing surgical packs for surgery. Communicates with DVM’s and Technicians to coordinate equipment and procedure timelines for their patients.
Minimum Requirements: At least 1 year of animal experience preferred High school diploma or equivalent.
Two years of experience as a veterinary assistant with job responsibilities that required animal restraint and taking radiographs Experience in a surgical setting Knowledge of EasyVet or similar medical record systems.
