The Pathologists' Assistant will perform gross examination of surgical specimens, prepare frozen sections, and assist with postmortem examinations under the supervision of a pathologist. They are also responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment, ensuring quality assurance, and fostering a collaborative team environment.
Candidates should ideally hold a Master’s degree from an NAACLS-accredited pathologists’ assistant program and possess or be eligible for ASCP certification. Proficiency in Epic Beaker and Dragon Medical software is required, along with strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Spectrum Healthcare Partners is Maine’s largest multi-specialty, physician-owned and directed professional organization and is comprised of approximately 200 physicians practicing in the areas of anesthesiology, pathology, radiation oncology, radiology, and vascular & interventional radiology. Spectrum provides services at many of Maine’s hospitals throughout the state and in eastern New Hampshire.
Under the supervision of a pathologist, this position assists with all aspects of surgical specimen processing and frozen section preparation, as required. Postmortem examinations may be required at some sites of service.
