The role involves performing pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic laboratory testing, including specimen collection and processing. Candidates must hold either a 4-year degree for the Scientist role or a 2-year degree for the Technician role, with relevant certification preferred. Strong phlebotomy skills, knowledge of laboratory procedures, and the ability to perform physical tasks like standing and lifting are required.
The Medical Laboratory Scientist performs waived and moderately complex laboratory testing, including collection, processing, analysis, and accurate result reporting in accordance with established procedures and regulatory standards. This role ensures quality control compliance, performs proficiency testing, monitors test system performance, and takes appropriate corrective action when needed. The position requires strong technical, organizational, and communication skills, along with the ability to manage workflow and perform safe, efficient laboratory operations in a primary care setting.
