The Unit Specialist provides direct patient care, including vital signs, personal care, and phlebotomy, while also managing clerical duties for the department. They assist with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers while ensuring accurate documentation in the electronic medical record.
Candidates must have a High School Diploma and at least one year of patient care experience in a hospital or medical facility. A CNA, EMT, or CMA certification is required within one year of hire.
The Unit Specialist performs a variety of direct and indirect care services including measuring vital signs, collecting samples, assisting patients with personal care needs, and documenting care. This position performs clerical duties for the department to facilitate effective and efficient delivery of care by department staff.
