The Ophthalmic Assistant supports ophthalmologists by performing patient evaluations, specialized ocular testing, and clinical procedures. They also manage administrative tasks, including patient records, triaging clinical messages, and maintaining examination rooms.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, with a preference for certification from an accredited ophthalmic medical program. At least one year of relevant experience in an ophthalmic setting is preferred.
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent. Certification on Accreditation of Ophthalmic Medical Programs or graduate from medical assistant program preferred. EXPERIENCE: Minimum of one year of Ophthalmic Assistant experience preferred. Demonstrates knowledge of ocular terminology and pharmacology, including the identification and proper use of diagnostic medications. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.
