The volunteer serves as an integral member of the interdisciplinary group in settings such as home care, respite, inpatient, or administrative offices, providing patient care and support under guidance. Responsibilities include acting as substitute family/caregiver, performing agreed-upon tasks like homemaker chores or errands, and maintaining strict confidentiality.
Applicants must be mature individuals supportive of the hospice concept, comfortable with their spirituality, and willing to serve others in a volunteer capacity. Successful completion of the hospice’s volunteer training is mandatory, and surviving family members must observe a one-year waiting period before participating in direct patient care.

The volunteer provides patient care and support services according to his/her experience and training and in compliance with organization policies.
