The Pharmacy Technician supports the pharmacist by preparing and delivering medications, maintaining inventory, and ensuring sterile preparation areas. They also perform administrative duties such as order entry, billing support, and patient medication reconciliation.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and be at least 18 years old. Completion of pharmacy technician training or certification within 6 months of hire is required.
Eligible Wage Range: $20.00 – $22.60 per hour (based on experience and certification)
Cherry County Hospital and Clinic is seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Technician to join our team. This role supports the pharmacist in delivering safe and effective patient care by performing a variety of technical and administrative pharmacy duties. All responsibilities are carried out under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist and in accordance with Nebraska DHHS Pharmacy Statutes.
Key Responsibilities Enter medication orders into the computerized system for pharmacist verification Prepare daily medication fills and deliver to patient care areas Restock and maintain automated medication systems and floor stock Assist in preparing IV additives and chemotherapy under pharmacist supervision Package medications and check for expiration dates Maintain cleanliness and sterility of IV preparation areas Perform patient home medication reconciliation Process medication orders and update records as needed Restock pharmacy inventory and supplies Audit and reconcile patient medication charges Assist with medication pricing updates and billing support Participate in staff meetings and training sessions Follow all safety, infection control, and emergency protocols Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environment Ensure strict confidentiality of patient information (HIPAA compliance) Adhere to all hospital, departmental, and corporate compliance policies Perform additional duties as assigned Qualifications & Skills Ability to read, write, and understand policies and procedures Basic computer proficiency Strong communication and organizational skills Good attention to detail and comprehension abilities Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change Knowledge of confidentiality laws and healthcare privacy standards Physical Requirements & Working Conditions Ability to stand, move, and restock supplies throughout the shift Capability to safely handle medications and use protective equipment Comfortable performing routine computer-based tasks
Minimum Job Requirements High school graduate or equivalent Eighteen (18) years of age or older Completed pharmacy technician training per regulation, or certification obtained within 6 months of hire Previous hospital/pharmacy experience preferred but not required Must not have ever been convicted of any drug-related misdemeanor or felony
