The surgical technologist assists the surgical team by preparing the operating room, managing sterile instruments, and supporting surgeons during procedures. They are also responsible for patient preparation, monitoring vital signs, and ensuring the operating room is cleaned and restocked post-surgery.
Candidates should be graduates of an accredited surgical technologist program and hold a CFSA certification if applying as a Surgical First Assist. Must be CPR certified and possess 0-2 years of clinical experience, with a preference for orthopedic or total joint experience.
Certified First Assist / Surgical Technologist (Part-Time) Monday-Thursday rotating depending how the weeks fall with the block schedule.
Supervision received: Physician and/or Registered Nurse
Surgical technologists, also called scrubs and surgical or operating room technicians, assist in surgical operations under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, or other surgical personnel. Surgical technologists are members of operating room teams, which most commonly include surgeons, anesthesiologists, and circulating nurses.
Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment. Surgical technologists work in clean, well-lighted, cool environments. Must stand for long periods and remain alert during operations. At times may be exposed to communicable diseases and unpleasant sights, odors, and materials.
