About the Role

• The Pediatric Dental Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting pediatric dentists by ensuring a safe, comfortable, and efficient environment for young patients during dental procedures.
• We currently have one part-time and one full-time position open.
• This position involves preparing treatment rooms, performing coronal polishing, assisting during dental treatments, and providing compassionate care tailored to children’s unique needs and anxieties.
• The assistant will also be responsible for educating patients and their guardians on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care to promote long-term dental health.
• Collaboration with the dental team to maintain high standards of infection control and patient safety is essential.
• Ultimately, the role contributes significantly to delivering positive dental experiences that encourage lifelong healthy habits in children.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification as a Dental Assistant (CDA) or completion of an accredited dental assisting program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Experience or training in pediatric dental assisting preferred.
• Knowledge of dental terminology, instruments, and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working specifically in a pediatric dental office.
• Additional certifications, such as Radiology Certification, Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA), Coronal Polishing, and Sealant Certification
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and comfort children effectively.
• Familiarity with dental practice management software.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and organize dental instruments, materials, and equipment prior to pediatric dental procedures.
• Assist the pediatric dentist during examinations and treatments by handing instruments, managing suction, and ensuring patient comfort.
• Provide clear and gentle communication to children and their guardians to alleviate fears and explain procedures in an age-appropriate manner.
