The technologist is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic radiographic and CAT scan exams while maintaining departmental records. They must ensure patient safety, provide clear communication, and contribute to a positive team environment.
Candidates must have completed an accredited two-year Radiologic Technology program and hold or be eligible for ARRT registration. Proficiency in radiology imaging protocols and current CPR certification are required.
Summary: Responsible for performing all Diagnostic Radiographic exams with minimum supervision. This could also include performing CAT scan exams with minimum supervision, as well. The technologist must maintain all aspects of the Radiology Department including clerical duties with the Radiology office as well as RIS/PACS. The technologist reports directly to the Radiology Manager/Director. The technologist will work the shift assigned by the Manager/Director. Employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the facility. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Responsible for performing all high quality radiographic procedures within the Radiology department, surgery or portable exams. Responsible for utilizing the organization's RIS/PACS systems properly. Proficient in the use of all diagnostic radiography. Proficient in the administration of oral contrast media and IV contrast media. Be able to perform venipuncture as needed for radiology or CT exams. Provide explanations for pre and post exams for patients. Practice and maintain safety regulations that are established, including reporting equipment malfunctions to the manager. Completes incident reports, if necessary. Be a TEAM player as well as a TEAM leader. Contributes to a positive work climate and the overall team effort of the department. Performs related responsibilities as required or directed, including basic CAT scan exams. Be aware of all radiation safety practices, including ALARA. JOB SPECIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Skills and proficiency in the technical field of Radiology Technology. Such proficiency is acquired through completion of a 2 year accredited AMA approved Radiologic Technology Program (ARRT) and CPR certified. LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION: Registered or registry elligible with ARRT but must be registered with ARRT within one year of employment. Responsible for maintining ARRT licensure. Current CPR certification or CPR certified within 30 days of employment. EXPERIENCE: Registered RadiologicTechnologist or registry eligible with (ARRT) with ability to perform all diagnostic radiology exams. May be trained in the modality of CT after hiring if there is no experience with Helical CT. Knowledge of hospital and departmental policies and procedures, equipment, forms, and all record keeping including RIS/PACS and Powerchart as acquired through a 90-day probation period and/or new employee orientation.
Must be familiar with all protocols as set forth by the Radiologists that optimizes patient care in our facility. Proficient in the field of Radiology Imaging for providing patient care to adult, geriatric, adolescent, pediatric and newborn patients. Must be proficient in the usage of the RIS/PACS and Powerchart within the Radiology Dept.
