The role focuses on surgical assistance, including inducing and monitoring anesthesia for patients. Additional duties include triage, diagnostic imaging, sample collection, and providing nursing care for hospitalized animals.
Candidates must hold an active Licensed Veterinary Technician license and possess at least two years of professional experience. Proficiency in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring is required, along with excellent communication skills.
This position is heavily focused on surgical assisting and anesthesia monitoring. We are looking for someone who is proficient and confident in both areas. Job duties include, but are not limited to: Animal restraint, triage of incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management. Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases. We’re looking for: A Licensed Veterinary Technician with an active license required, 2+ year professional experience required A VTS in Anesthesia and Analgesia or a Surgical VTS would be preferred, but is not required Experience and proficiency in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring Consistent punctuality and reliability in adherence to scheduled shifts Availability to work some weekends Bilingual in English and Spanish heavily preferred, but not required Excellent client communication and medical record management skills Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations Expertise in safe and low-stress animal restraint techniques Proficiency in various sample collection methods, including blood, urine, fecal, and skin specimens Experience in radiographic positioning and image capture Commitment to professional ethics and continuous learning Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal-related hazards The ideal candidate will possess a combination of technical expertise and unwavering commitment to animal welfare in a dynamic veterinary setting.
