The Ophthalmic Photographer is responsible for capturing high-quality diagnostic images of the eye using specialized equipment to support diagnosis and treatment. Key duties include performing various imaging procedures, managing digital images in the EMR system, and maintaining equipment calibration.
Candidates must have at least one year of experience in ophthalmic photography and hold an OCT-C certification from the Ophthalmic Photographers Society upon hire. Proficiency in ophthalmic imaging software and a strong understanding of ocular anatomy are required.
Ophthalmic Photographer - KU Eye and Surgery Center KU Eye and Surgery Center Position Summary / Career Interest: The Ophthalmic Photographer-Certified is responsible for capturing high-quality diagnostic images of the eye using specialized ophthalmic imaging equipment and supporting ophthalmologists and optometrists in the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases. Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions Perform a variety of ophthalmic imaging procedures including fundus photography, fluorescein angiography, OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography), slit-lamp photography, and external eye imaging. Ensure proper patient positioning and comfort during imaging procedures. Maintain and calibrate imaging equipment to ensure optimal performance. Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to determine appropriate imaging protocols. Accurately label, store, and manage digital images in the electronic medical record (EMR) system. Adhere to HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards. Stay current with advances in ophthalmic imaging technology and techniques. Assist in training staff or students in ophthalmic imaging procedures. Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department. Preferred Education and Experience Required Licensure and Certification OCT-C Ophthalmic Photographers Society or equivalent upon Hire Preferred Licensure and Certification Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) BLS within 1 Year Required Language Skills Fluent English - Knowledge Requirements Proficiency in using ophthalmic imaging equipment and software. Strong understanding of ocular anatomy and pathology. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
