The pharmacy technician assists in the preparation and distribution of medication doses and maintains drug inventories, including restocking automated dispensing cabinets. They are also responsible for the preparation of oncology drugs and code cart restocking.
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and one to two years of supervised training or study, including mathematics courses. A PA pharmacy technician trainee registration is required.
Working under the direct supervision of the pharmacist(s), the pharmacy technician assists in all pharmacy operations' functions related to: (1) preparation & distribution of all doses of medication; (2) maintenance of drug inventories (e.g., re-stocking automated dispensing cabinets throughout the hospital, drug packaging/re-packaging, extemporaneous compounding, code cart re-stock, etc); (3) preparation of oncology drugs Position Qualifications Education: High school diploma OR G.E.D. and one (1) to two (2) years supervised training or study required; courses in mathematics necessary Experience/Specialized Skills/Aptitudes Verbal ability is necessary to understand physician’s orders and terminology for transcribing information onto a patient’s profile, also for labeling IV solutions and prescriptions.
