Executes pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic procedures on biological specimens to assist in disease diagnosis and treatment. Manages specimen receipt, preparation, and archival while collaborating with physicians and laboratory staff.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in biological science and completion of a NAACLS accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program. Candidates must have 2 years of relevant experience and obtain ASCP certification within 6 months.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's: Biological science or related field from a regionally accredited college/university Other: Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program within the last five years CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE: ASCP-American Society for Clinical Pathologist within 6 months TYPICAL EXPERIENCE: 2 years of recent relevant experience. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge/Skills: Demonstrated advanced knowledge and technical competence in gross and post-mortem examinations, laboratory operations, and quality assurance in surgical pathology. Quantity of Work: Ability to organize and prioritize job duties and assigned tasks for completion within expected timeframes. Quality of Work: Ability to accurately, precisely, and reliably perform job duties and assigned tasks. Demonstrates sound judgment and problem solving relevant to assigned duties. Culturally Competent Communication: Ability to compassionately and effectively interact individuals and groups of diverse ages, backgrounds, values, beliefs and behaviors. Workflow Management Ability to appropriately respond to fluctuations in volume, unexpected situations or problems such as equipment or information system failures, shift-to-shift hand-offs, priority test orders, and specimen integrity issues. Adherence to Practices & Procedures: Ability to follow standard practices, processes, and procedures in sequence. Knowledge of applicable local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures aimed at ensuring the privacy and safety of patients.
