Venesco, LLC is hiring a Pharmacy Technician to provide services in the 96th Medical Group at Eglin Air Force Base, Fl. Pharmacy Technicians will be part of a Pharmacy team providing care to active-duty service members and their dependents. Pharmacy Technicians could be scheduled on weekends but will still only work a total of 40- hours per week with the time shifted to meet the needs of the pharmacy’s weekend shift.
The Pharmacy Technician shall greet and receive patients, prepare and maintain records, pull and file patient prescriptions, perform basic secretarial skills, handle telephone calls and written correspondence. Serve as a liaison between physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and other medical staff to Pharmacy personnel. The Pharmacy Technician shall receive patients in a courteous and professional manner. The Pharmacy Technician performs pharmaceutical dispensing duties including filling new outpatient prescriptions, refilling prescriptions, entering orders into databases, processing Inpatient orders. The Pharmacy Technician shall perform information consultation duties including supporting new and refill prescriptions, supporting patient requests, supporting physician requests, monitoring for drug interactions, and reporting adverse drug reactions. The Pharmacy Technician should have the ability to acquire and use basic computer skills to review, enter, and update patient data, and extract patient information using the Military Health System Genesis (MHSG), Preventive Health Assessment Individual Medical Record (PIMRPyxis, Innovation’s PharmASSIST/Nexia, GSL Solutions, Parata Systems, QFlow Systems, Patient Safety Reporting Tool, and Electronic Health Records Systems (ESSENTRIS). The Pharmacy Technician shall provide patient care services as directed by pharmacists, physicians/nurse practitioners/physician assistants or other individuals responsible for patient care. The Pharmacy Technician shall adhere to strict rules and regulations on all controlled substances. Inventory and maintain required stock records for controlled drugs. Provide on-the-job training for newly assigned pharmacy personnel and trainees on all local policies and procedures for medication dispensing, as necessary. The Pharmacy Technician shall remove expired or damaged stock from shelves and follow established procedures for their proper disposition. Select storage areas for items based upon conditions (e.g., refrigerated, dry, etc.) required for proper maintenance of all pharmaceuticals and security of controlled substances. Rotate shelved stock to ensure proper issuance according to dates received or established guidelines. Perform routine housekeeping duties to keep work area and equipment in clean and optimal condition. The Pharmacy Technician shall respect and maintain the basic rights of patients, demonstrating concern for personal dignity and human relationships. HCW’s receiving complaints validated by the Functional Requirements Evaluator Designee (FRED) and Chief of the Medical Staff shall be subject to counseling and, depending on the nature and severity of the complaint, separation from performing services under this contract. The Pharmacy Technician shall coordinate and participates in designated facility meetings. The Pharmacy Technician shall consult with medical personnel, legal authorities, andn department heads as required. Shall perform administrative duties that may include maintaining statistical records of his or her clinical workload, participating in medical educations programs, and participating in quality improvement functions and other duties as prescribed by Department Head. Generate third-party billing in print and electronic formats and reconcile weekly. Shall attend and participate in meetings, professional staff conferences and other appropriate professional activities such as, but not limited to the following: quality improvement meetings, professional staff meetings, department head’s staff meetings, flight meetings, and other meetings required by applicable regulations, MTF guidance, or as directed by the Department Head or his/her designated representative. Shall treat patient information, no matter how developed, as privileged information. Patient information shall not be disclosed or revealed in any way for any use outside the MTF without prior written permission by the Chief of Hospital Services.
Degree/Education: Be a graduate of a Pharmacy Technician program accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) or successful completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program (i.e., a technical, hospital or retail-based program) or a formal medical services training program of the United States Military, or a minimum of 500 documented pharmacy technician working hours in conjunction with a national certification.
The contractor shall hold current American Heart Association or the American Red Cross Healthcare Provider (HCP) or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at no cost to the government. Certification granted based solely on computer-based training does not constitute fulfillment of this requirement.
