Responsibilities

• Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) render direct patient care to an assigned group of patients, in accordance with the philosophy, policies and procedures of Northside Hospital.
• LPNs participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care.
• LPNs work under the direction of the Registered Nurse in an assigned clinical area.
• According to the National Association of Practical & Licensed Vocational Nurses (NALPN), “Practical Nurses/Licensed Vocational Nurses are a specialized field who represent the entry into the nursing practice profession”.
• LPNs practice in diverse clinical settings that include different healthcare professionals who work collaboratively as a team.
• This collaborative team works to “improve a patient’s function and to protect the health and safety of the patients”.
• LPNs are part of the Licensed Practical Nurse – Nursing Excellence Track Program (L-NEXT) at Northside Hospital and have the opportunity for career advancement opportunities through expansion of knowledge, expertise through both academic/continuing education, and specialty certification.

Qualifications

• KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
• Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Georgia.
• Must hold American Heart Association Basic Life Support.
• KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED One (1) year of experience as an LPN.
• Additional Life Support credential (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc.) or other clinical specialty certifications may be preferred in specific units.
• Visual color acuity depending on the role in specific units.

Work Hours: 8:30-5:00 Weekend Requirements:
