Responsible for the reprocessing, manual cleaning, and decontamination of sterile and non-sterile materials and equipment for surgery. Additionally, the role involves testing autoclaves and assisting in the education and training of new staff regarding quality assurance.
Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 months of experience as a CS/SPD Tech. Current CBSPD or IAHCSMM certification is mandatory.

The Certified Central Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the reprocessing of all sterile and non-sterile materials, instruments, and equipment for surgery and other hospital units. He/she is responsible for manual cleaning and decontamination; operating the mechanical washers and sonic units; testing autoclaves for efficiency and maintaining compliant records; He/she assists in the recall process as needed. As a certified technician, the technician will also assist in the education and training of other staff (e.g., new hires) with respect to quality assurance, performance improvement, and departmental compliance.
