The Ophthalmic Assistant provides administrative and technical support to an ophthalmologist, including maintaining patient records, scheduling appointments, and assisting with clinical workups. They also instruct patients on contact lens care and maintain examination rooms and supplies.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with Basic Life Support certification and two years of experience in a medical office setting. Skills in communication, computer literacy, and patient care are also necessary.

Job Description: Primary
Maintains patient records and schedules appointments in IDX. Answers phones, greets patients, verifies correct billing information and prepares chart for office visit. Assists with the clinical work up of patients, including visual acuity, applanation pressures, history, keratometry, autorefraction, color vision, stereopsis and EYESYS. Instructs patient in the proper care and insertion/removal of contact lenses. Modifies and/or polishes contacts. Maintains inventory of materials and cleans instruments. Maintains examination rooms and supplies. Working Conditions: Job Location/Working Conditions Normal office environment. Physical Effort Typically sitting at desk or table.
