Patient Care Technician-Cardiac Cath Lab-Methodist

Overview Shift

• Monday-Friday, 6am-2:30pm *Hours may be variable based on department needs, daytime hours, 8-hour shifts, no weekends, no holidays, no call Provides direct patient care for patients and families in the Cath Lab Prep and Recovery unit. The unit is a fast-paced, 15 bed unit which is staffed with RNs and PCTs. Supports patients and families before and after Cath Lab procedures. Responsibilities

Assists patients with admission, including prepping for procedure. Answers patient call lights. Assists with simple procedures as defined in work area. Takes and records vital signs and weights. Transports patients, equipment, supplies, and specimens including transport of patients with traction. Assists in maintaining a clean, orderly and safe environment. Utilizes a holistic approach (considering physical, psych/social, spiritual, educational, safety, and related criteria) appropriate to the age of the patients served in the assigned service area. Obtains adequate blood specimens as defined in work area. Demonstrates initiative to improve quality and customer service. Balances team and individual responsibilities, objective and open to other’s views, gives and welcomes feedback, contributes to positive team goals, puts success of team above own interest.

Qualifications

License(s)/Certification(s): Completion of 75-Hour CNA Course Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain certification within three (3) months from date of hire.

Experience: Completion of one year of hospital experience in a patient care area preferred
