The provider will work a hybrid of shifts in the Emergency Department and Clinical Decision Unit, managing a broad range of patient complaints. Responsibilities include evaluating, interpreting, and coordinating information to make critical patient care recommendations.
Candidates must be a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with at least one year of postgraduate experience, preferably in Emergency Medicine or Critical Care. An unrestricted medical license in the state of Iowa and federal authority to prescribe medications are required.
6-hour shifts Monday – Friday (8a-2p) 0.9 FTE = 72 hours per pay period (every 2 weeks) Annual ED visit volume = 33,000 Average ED patients per day = 89 Average 1.2-1.6 patients per hour in ED 40 hours of physician coverage & 27 hours of APP coverage per day in ED Level 3 Trauma Center 22 bed ED + 12 bed clinical decision unit + 10 bed fast track + 2 trauma bays APP’s manage CDU with physician oversight Integral part of the Emergency Medicine team Ability to see broad range of patient complaints and practice to top of your license No call, good work/life balance Ability to work as a team member to improve the health of the people and communities we serve Evaluates, interprets and coordinates information to make decisions and recommendations regarding patient care Patient-focused, friendly and willing to collaborate in a team environment Excellent communication (written and verbal), analytical and problem-solving skills
