The Patient Care Technician provides bedside care, assists with activities of daily living, and monitors vital signs under RN supervision. Additionally, the role involves performing phlebotomy, glucose monitoring, and assisting with patient admissions and discharges.
A high school diploma and BLS certification are required, with CNA, EMT, or CMA certification needed within one year of hire. Candidates should have hands-on patient care experience or be a second-semester RN student.
The Patient Care Tech assists patients with healthcare needs, activities of daily living and provides bedside care, including basic nursing procedures, all under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). In this role, the Patient Care Technician may also function as a phlebotomist by performing blood collection by venipuncture or dermal puncture, as appropriate.
