The CT Technologist Trainee assists with patient preparation and technical CT procedures under direct supervision. The role involves learning positioning techniques, supporting image processing, and maintaining a clean clinical environment.
Candidates must have a current ARRT(R) certification, a State License in Diagnostic Radiologic Technology, and BLS certification. Completion of an accredited Radiology program is required, and the trainee must obtain ARRT (CT) certification within a specified timeframe.
Assists with preparing patients for CT exams and explains procedures in a courteous and professional manner. Learns proper positioning techniques, immobilization methods, and safety procedures for CT imaging under supervision. Observes and assists with administering contrast media (only after obtaining venipuncture certification and under direct supervision, if applicable). Supports technologists with image processing, PACS transmission, and quality assurance checks. Maintains patient confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA guidelines. Participates in educational activities, in-service training, and on-the-job instruction to gain competency in CT imaging. Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and prepared for patient procedures. Provides professional and compassionate care to patients throughout the imaging process. Completes administrative tasks, paperwork, and data entry as assigned. Performs other related duties as assigned while learning the full scope of the CT Technologist role. Minimum Qualifications, Education, and Experience Must have current ARRT(R) and State License in Diagnostic Radiologic Technology (CRT). Must obtain ARRT (CT) certification and/or applicable State CT license within the timeframe required by RadNet policy or state regulations. Continued employment in the trainee role is contingent upon meeting this requirement. Completion of an accredited Radiology program required. BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required. Venipuncture certification preferred; if not held, must obtain within required timeframe. Ability to learn and apply specialized CT equipment operation. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to relate to patients, physicians, and team members. Must be detail-oriented, highly organized, and committed to professional development. Quality Standards Participates fully in RadNet training, policies, and protocols. Practices universal safety and radiation protection precautions. Demonstrates commitment to professional growth through coursework, continuing education, and licensure preparation. Provides excellent patient service and upholds RadNet’s values and compliance standards. Physical Demands This position often requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, twisting, reaching, handling or palpating, speaking, and listening. Must be able to lift over 50 pounds occasionally. Assists and participates as part of the lift team for patient transfers. Working Environment Work is performed in an outpatient medical office setting with low to moderate noise levels.
