Assist surgeons and nursing staff during surgical operations by preparing sterile equipment and maintaining the operating room. Provide direct patient care including positioning, skin preparation, and monitoring vital signs during procedures.
Requires certification in CPR and a preference for graduates of accredited surgical technologist programs. CFSA certification is mandatory for those applying as a Surgical First Assist.
Certified First Assist / Surgical Technologist (Part-Time) Monday-Thursday rotating depending how the weeks fall with the block schedule.
Supervision received: Physician and/or Registered Nurse
Surgical technologists, also called scrubs and surgical or operating room technicians, assist in surgical operations under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, or other surgical personnel. Surgical technologists are members of operating room teams, which most commonly include surgeons, anesthesiologists, and circulating nurses.
Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment. Surgical technologists work in clean, well-lighted, cool environments. Must stand for long periods and remain alert during operations. At times may be exposed to communicable diseases and unpleasant sights, odors, and materials.
