Functions as a first or second assistant under the direction of the operating surgeon to ensure safe surgical exposure and wound closure. Responsible for anticipating surgical steps and maintaining a sterile environment while protecting the patient from tissue injury.
Requires a high school diploma and certification as a surgical first assistant or completion of a specialty checklist. Candidates should have 3-5 years of surgical scrub experience, with over 5 years strongly preferred.
*Qualified applicants must live within a reasonable driving distance to campus to meet 45-minute on-call requirement.
