The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for transporting drugs, unpacking shipments, maintaining inventory, and assisting in the preparation of pharmaceutical preparations under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. They also handle patient admissions, medication cassettes, and ensure compliance with pharmacy procedures.
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, along with knowledge of the metric system and drug administration procedures. Hospital pharmacy experience is preferred, and the ability to establish effective working relationships is essential.
Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medication maintaining the drug inventory and maintaining patient records. Pharmacy technicians work only under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.
Delivers medications to designated areas accurately and efficiently, including consolidating trips and recognizing priorities Fills stock, Unit dose medications, medication orders accurately, efficiently and in a timely manner taking into account specific patient needs Stocks shelves and medication bins and all areas of the pharmacy Conducts IV preparation functions according to departmental processes using sterile technique Record waste Answer phone and determine order status; triage calls for appropriate resolution
CA Pharmacy Technician from the CA Board of Pharmacy is required. Previous hospital pharmacy experience is preferred.
