Perform physical assessments, triage, and treat patients with specialized dermatology conditions. Conduct minor operative procedures such as suturing and lesion excision while collaborating with physicians on care plans.
Must be a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with an active Massachusetts PA license and DEA licensure. Requires two years of experience in Dermatology and current BLS certification.
Performs physical assessments on patients with specialized conditions in Dermatology. Determines urgent versus emergent problems and triages patients to appropriate specialty physicians. Assesses and treats patients with support from other physician colleagues. May develop and implement a plan of care for these patients, as well as prescribe medications, exercises and/or other treatments. Performs minor operative procedures including suturing and lesion excision. Collaborates with the physician in the management of patient care. Such support may include ordering and interpreting laboratory work and other diagnostic studies, assisting the physician in operative procedures, performing pre-operative histories and physical exams, and maintaining continuity of care through the exchange of information with outside health and social agencies. Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant degree program Active and unrestricted PA license in the State of Massachusetts Current active DEA licensure/prescriptive authority or ability to obtain post-hire, per state regulations Current active Mass DPH Controlled Substances Registration or ability to obtain post-hire, per state regulations Two years of dermatology experience Maintains BLS certification, professional certification as appropriate
