Assists nursing staff in providing emergency care and performs direct technical patient care. Responsible for documenting treatment activities and communicating patient progress to the nursing team.
Requires a minimum of one year of experience as an EMT or Paramedic. Must hold appropriate CPR certification, with ACLS preferred.
The Emergency Department Technician under the supervision of nursing staff, assists in the provision of emergency care. Performs duties and direct technical care requiring knowledge of basic patient care principles and medical technology. Reports and documents treatment activities in the patient medical record. Reports and documents any unusual incidents. Works to meet Department, Hospital and Hunt Regional Healthcare goals. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Minimum Education: Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic Minimum Work Experience: One year minimum EMT or Paramedic Required Licenses/Certifications: Appropriate CPR Certification Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: None Preferred Qualification: ACLS JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS 1. Ensures that appropriate physician orders are followed. Ensures communication to the nurse of the patient's progress, changes in condition, needs and preferences. 11. Instructs patients and family members of hospital routines and procedures. 12. Documents treatments and procedures in the medical record. 13. Promotes a positive work environment that enhances professional respect, growth, creativity, and active participation in achieving of the mission and vision of the organization. 14. Completes required education in a timely manner. 15. Participates in unit based projects.
