The role involves performing patient ultrasound procedures using appropriate scanning techniques and maintaining proficiency with all departmental equipment. Additionally, the sonographer reviews appointment schedules to optimize resource use for patients and physicians.
Candidates must be graduates of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program and be registered with ARDMS in Abdomen. CPR certification and completion of ARDMS physics and abdominal boards are also required.
Reviews appointment schedules and suggests changes necessary to provide maximum use of the available resources (Re: Equipment and staff) in order to assure the most efficient service to the patients and physicians. Operates and maintains proficiency on all ultrasound equipment within the department in order to provide quality imaging. Performs patient procedures and provides appropriate scanning techniques and images. Images are labeled with correct name and identification number.
Schedule: 3 12-hour shifts per week
Experience Required: Previous hospital experience preferred
Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
Successfully completion of physics boards and abdominal boards through ARDMS
